Happy Father's Day

We celebrated Dustin's first Father's Day this past weekend. Graham gave him some new suits, a book, and a picture. I took pictures of Graham dressed up in Dustin's work clothes and then framed the picture. Dustin's clothes were so big on Graham that I felt like I was dressing a snowman! We are so thankful for Dustin and hope he enjoyed the day as much as we did.

Rice Cereal and Sippy Cups

As you can tell from the title this week, we have been very busy. Graham started eating rice cereal and drinking water from a sippy cup. He does more playing than drinking from the cup, but we have to start somewhere! The rice cereal started out as a love-hate relationship. He would get so excited as the spoon was coming towards his mouth and then make a horrible face when he tasted the cereal. And then he would become excited again, etc. He only has love for his rice cereal now! He opens is mouth when the spoon is near and keeps most of the cereal in his mouth as he chews and swallows. We will most likely continue with just the cereal for a little longer since we started before the pediatrician recommended.
I feel like Graham is growing bigger and longer by the day. He is only two pounds shy of outgrowing his infant carrier car seat. We have bought a new car seat but have not buckled it in the car yet. I can hardly carry him and the carrier at this point! I also had to move the seat on his exersaucer up a notch because he has gotten so tall. Everyone keeps saying that he will eventually level out and quit growing so fast, but we have not gotten there yet!
Graham's visit to the physical therapist went really well. His head is becoming much more round and less flat on the left side. The therapist was even impressed by his improvement! She remeasured his head, checked his neck strength, and looked at his ear placement. His head measurements improved from 11 to 6 (the goal is 4 or below) and his head symmetry improved from 88% to 81% (80% is perfect). The only thing she found not perfect, and she had to look hard, was that his left ear is still closer to his nose than his right. Nothing to worry about, that should also improve as his head continues to become more round.

The Beach

Graham had his first beach trip this past week. We were able to go to Hilton Head with Dustin's Mom and Warren. It was such a fun week and Graham did great! We played on the beach, in the ocean, in the pool, and ate lots of good food.
We took Graham to the beach everyday. He did not like having his feet in the ocean, but he enjoyed watching the water and the waves. He would play on a towel under the umbrella, eat a bottle, and then fall asleep while riding in his stroller down the beach. Talk about living the good life!
Graham did not like the outdoor pool, but he loved the indoor heated pool. When we were indoors he would lay back in his float and kick his feet. We are hoping he will like the outdoor pool more when we go back in August.
Graham has really transitioned to a big boy this week. He is reaching for everything, wanting to eat and drink what we have, and is close to sitting up on his own. The pediatrician recommended not starting cereal or food with Graham until he is 6 months old (due to his milk allergy), but I think we are going to have to start soon. He is very interested in our food and fussing when he is finished with his bottle. We gave him water out of a straw this week and loved it. That's my boy!
Graham goes back to the physical therapist this week to have his head re-evaluated. We can see a lot of improvement and hope she can too. I will post again later in the week to keep everyone up to date!
