2 Month Appointment

Graham did great at his appointment today. He cried when he got his injections, but fell asleep within 3 minutes afterwards. No more immunizations until he is 4 months old! He weighs 12 lbs 4 oz (68%) and is 24 1/4 inches long (91%). As you have seen in his pictures, he is really starting to fill out. His cheeks are full and he has fat rolls on his arms and legs! We love our fat boy.

Overall, Graham is doing well and is developmentally appropriate for his age. The left side of his head continues to be flatter than the right, but we are working on it. We sit and play on the right side of Graham to make him turn his head that way and I will turn his head to the right side when he is sleeping. He has started to turn his head immediately back to the left though. Apparently, Graham is just as stubborn as I am!

We tried supplementing with soy formula as well as cutting dairy out from my diet to see if this helped with his milk protein allergy. We can tell a difference in Graham's grumpiness, but he has continued to have blood in his stools. The doctor said to stop the soy formula and use the expensive kind. We should be able to tell a difference within 36 hours. We are crossing our fingers this does the trick.

8 Weeks Old

This week marks the 8 week mark for Graham and the return to work mark for me. I only had to work on Monday and Tuesday this week, but next week I am back to full time. Dustin was able to work from home and keep Graham both days this week. Next week Graham will start at daycare. I cried leaving the house, on the way to work, and for about the first 30 minutes while at work on Monday. I do not know why I tried to wear makeup! Tuesday was much better. I only teared up at the end of the day when I was still at work at 6:40pm. It was good to see all my work friends, but I missed my sweet baby boy. Dr LeBel even gave me flowers as a "thanks for coming back to work!"

Graham had his first recognition smile this week. I went to get him out of his crib last Friday and he smiled when he saw me! I cannot explain the emotions I felt. He has also started to smile when Dustin comes home from work. Graham is such a sweet and loving baby. He has his 2 month check up at the doctor tomorrow. I will update the blog with his new stats after his appointment.

7 Weeks Old

Out little boy is 7 weeks old today and acting more like a little man everyday. He is smiling and "talking" with us and loves it when we sing and play with him. Morning is still his best time of the day. Graham had to go to the doctor today because we noticed blood in his stool while changing a diaper yesterday. The doctor confirmed it was blood and said that Graham has a milk protein allergy. Which means that I have to cut out all dairy products from my diet. I am glad that Graham is going to be alright, but it is going to be hard to cut out dairy products! This allergy explains why Graham is irritable at times and has to strain with his bowel movements. On a good note, our fat boy has gained 2 pounds in 3 weeks! He now weighs 11 lbs 13 oz. Clearly this milk allergy is not causing too much of a problem!

6 Weeks

Another exciting week in the Green household. Graham is starting to stay awake more during the day since he sleeps so well at night. The mornings are his best time. He is usually awake for about 2-3 hours and will play, smile, and look around. We are both sad that Dustin has to go to work and miss play time. By the time Dustin gets home Graham is usually grumpy (and me too sometimes)! Graham is trying to stay awake in the late afternoon as well, but is truly too tired and so he gets fussy. The only thing that calms him down is bath time. Graham loves his baths. Dustin is usually the bath giver and I think Dustin enjoys the time as much as Graham.

We have all been enjoying the beautiful weather over the past few days. It is nice to be able to walk and get everyone out of the house. Maggie is the only one not loving the temperature. She has officially made herself an inside dog and does not like being outside in the 65 degree sunlight! It looks like Graham and I are not the only ones who are going to have a hard time when I go back to work.

Dustin and I have done a date night the past two weekends while the grandparents have kept Graham. Everyone involved seems to love it! Graham gets to be held for most of the time, the grandparents get to give all the love they want, and Maggie gets to stay inside with everyone. Hopefully the grandparents won't realize we are leaving during Graham's grumpy time!

5 Weeks Old

We celebrate 5 weeks with Graham today. It has been a big week. Graham is still continuing to sleep through the night. He usually goes 7-9 hours between feedings at night! The pediatrician even commented on how rested I looked. Speaking of the pediatrician, Graham had his one month appointment last Friday. He weighs 9 lbs 13 oz (49th percentile) and is now 22 3/4 inches long (88th percentile). That is correct, in only one month Graham has gained 2 lbs 5 oz and grown 2 3/4 inches. He also had to get his second Hepatitis B injection. Graham did better than I did! The only thing that we have to work on is getting Graham to look to his right. He sleeps and lays looking to his left and his head is flatter on that side. His doctor said it is nothing to worry about at this point.

Graham has become more active and is staying awake for longer periods of time during the day. He can now focus on his toys and faces. There is nothing sweeter that him looking into our eyes while we hold and feed him. He has also started to smile.
